Dr. Andrew Williams

Dr. Andrew Williams, M.D., FACP is a board certified, Harvard-trained internist joining Community Health Center in Canton, NY. Dr. Williams is moving from Rochester, NY, where he was a full time member of the medical school faculty and recipient of numerous honors including the Lawrence Kohn teaching fellowship and the Arthur W. Bauman award. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Rochester Medical School with honors and was elected to the AOA medical honor society. After completing his residency training in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital, he fulfilled a National Health Service Corps Scholarship commitment as physician and Chief of Staff at Northern Navajo Medical Center in New Mexico. While working for the Public Health Service, he was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 2006 he was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Physicians (FACP) based on his leadership, scholarship, community service and patient care.
Dr. Williams is passionate about providing improved access to the highest quality of medical care to people who are uninsured and under-insured, and patients with a disability. He hopes that his role as Medical Director of the health center will help reduce health care disparities in the North Country community. In addition to providing outpatient care at Community Health Center, he will be an attending physician at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. As an internist, Dr. Williams evaluates and treats adults with complicated acute and chronic illnesses. His emphasis is on compassionate, patient-centered, evidence-based care of the individual. He is moving to Potsdam with his wife and 2 young sons. In his spare time, Dr. Williams enjoys bicycling, kayaking, fishing and hiking.
